Most congenital malformations develop during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy when the foetus is growing very rapidly and developing the different limbs and organs. This is when the teratogen would have the most effect. Latter on, it is the general growth that affected.
Can you only get tetanus in a wound made by rusty, rather than a clean, object? No, the spores of tetanus are very common in our environment and it is certainly possible to infect yourself, even with an object that is apparently clean. However, the highest concentration of spores is certainly to be found in the soil and in manure, and something like a rusty nail is perhaps more likely (more…)
